A little over a month...

It's been along time again. We seem to get caught up in teaching, planning, grading or exploring this fantastic island. In fact just this past Saturday, Jake graded over 400 math and science papers, so we apologize for our lack of communication! :)

Here's a picture of us on our recent hike.

Things are going well though. We are well finished the first two weeks of school and they went well. 19 1st graders is fun but a challenge. They sure like to talk all the time.

For Jake, teaching 9 different classes within 6 periods, plus finding a good system for all that grading is his challenge. We love the students though, and especially love the staff. The other teachers here are incredible teachers and people.

We continue to find new things to enjoy: like new people to take us on awesome adventures (like David our tour guide for the past two weekend trips), other Howlies who have such awesome fun ideas to share (like Ultimate Frisbee, Paddling, $ Taco Nights on Tuesdays and Hash runs - which is basically a jungle run on a Saturday afternoon for 2 hours with drinks and food and fire afterwards), and hanging out more with the teachers that live here in the apartments with us. God has really blessed us with some amazing people as next door neighbors.

Another reminder to all, to download Skype - free talking! :)

Also continue to check out our Picasa Web Album - more pictures are up!

Please email us or post on here and let us know how you are doing. We miss all of you!

Continue to pray for us as we teach the students and minister to them in all we do.

Blessings and Love,

J & J

Hi Jackie and Jake,
Well, here I am looking over my Favorites and your name jumped out at me. So says I, look at their postings and then write! I have remembered you in prayer every so often but I keep forgetting to look at your site!
The pictures are awesome-even you Jake! :-) Jackie you look so tan!
The Scooter is great! Ross will be jealous! He wants one so badly!
Glad school is going well, I know that days get long and at times hard with all the jabber going on, but be patient, they are learning to, hard for both of you-teacher and kids! Jake your days sound really full, that is a lot of classroom work for MS teacher! Sort of sounds like out daugher Alicia with her jabber box class last year and all the extra course work to do. But you will do well cuz first of all you have the Lord to guide you, you love what you are doing and you have been called to do it! your friends sound great and thank the Lord for them! So happy for you to have them, great to be together but also fun to do some guy alone and girl alone time to. Your weekends sound so neat! When Ross checks these pictures and your adventures he will be drooling!
No teaching jobs yet and Dordt messed up on the sending of his paper stuff to MN for licensure so not ready yet and so he cannot get sub jobs yet either. School starts next Tues. Think he is a bit down but he is doing well to.

It rained today and what a relief! wE have had a very dry month and so was last month.

Well I had better stop chattering, just want wanted to say hi and send some good ole Mn love to you both. God Bless-

Kathy Van Der Bill-Ross's MOM
